How to Use Tanning Toilettes

Exfoliate all parts of the body that you expect to use the product on. Use a loofah on the rough areas like heels, elbows and knees. This will help you to have a more even looking tan. Use moisturizer after the shower and do this a couple of days before the first tanning application.

If you haven’t used a tanning toilette or lotion before you may want to try it on a small patch of skin where it won’t show to see if you like the color. Read this completely before getting started.

Think ahead. The toilette option is very convenient and you are less apt to turn your palms orange. If you are tanning for a certain occasion you will want to start a week or so ahead so you have plenty of time to do exfoliation, cover up and get to the shade you want before the occasion.

You want to purchase the lighter shade first and then go darker as your tan darkens. If you start too dark you are going to look ridiculous. A nice even tan continued over several days to weeks will get darker gradually and your tan will look more natural.

Do your waxing or shaving legs before you start your application. This helps you to have smooth skin for the tanning.

When you are ready to apply the tanner make sure you are applying the lotion or towel evenly. Start at the top or the bottom of the body and use a circle motion to avoid streaking. Make sure you get every part of the area you are tanning. That includes top, bottom and sides. Avoid applying to toes or fingers.

Be sure to allow time for the different body parts to dry before rubbing up against any surface or lying down to sleep. This includes putting on other clothes you may not want spotted or stained. You should give it at least an hour. If you try to dress before this you might smear some of the tanner which will result in an uneven look.

Don’t be disappointed with your first application. Examine the tan and touch up as needed.

Rough areas can become darker because of the texture of the skin. Good idea to moisturize these areas a couple days ahead of time. Don’t use moisturizer just before an application because this could interfere with the skin’s absorption of the tanner.

Always wash your hands with soap and water after you apply so that your palms don’t tan.

Use the tanner every couple days until you have reached the shade you want and then twice a week should be enough. Moisturize daily to keep your tan looking great longer.
