History of Cocoa Butter

Before cocoa butter was melted and used to make moisturizing body and hair care products, it was used to make chocolates. Chocolates were originally used for medicinal purposes only because they helped treat and relieve depression and fatigue naturally. The reason why chocolate was able to treat and relieve depression and fatigue naturally was because it contained chemical compounds. These chemical compounds had the ability to stimulate the brain so it would release endorphins into the body and make a person feel calm and happy. Today, chocolates are used for those same purposes, but also used as a natural aphrodisiac to help increase libido in both men and women.

Cocoa butter can even help maintains healthy skin and keep it well hydrated, nourished and protected from harsh environmental factors such as dry air. Cocoa butter is even useful for healing cracked hands and feet. However, cocoa butter has to be used daily to see any improvement in any type of skin condition.

Now cocoa butter is also very nourishing to dry hair. If you find you have split ends or coarseness in your hair you can always melts some cocoa butter and carefully massage it into the hair and scalp. After, allow the cocoa butter to soak into the scalp and hair for at least thirty minutes. The cocoa butter will help hydrate and repair the damaged hair with the potent nutrients in it. Once you have treated you hair with cocoa butter, wash it out really well with shampoo and use your daily conditioner. Afterwards, you will have soft silky repaired hair that has shine and bounce to it again.

Using raw cocoa butter or cocoa butter body and hair care products can make the shower or tub slippery when you use them to help pamper your body from head to toe so be careful. In rare cases, some people have been known to have allergic reactions to cocoa butter so test a small amount on the arm before using it all over the body. Cocoa butter should not be used to protect your skin from the sun because your skin will still burn. Never pour hot melted cocoa butter directly onto the skin or hair because it will burn you. Overall, cocoa butter is safe and wonderful to use to help keep skin and hair beautiful naturally.
